Fuelled
by a passion for design, Mamta Mansingka took
a non-descript garage in Indore (M.P.); a
single printing table and one karigaar (printer)
and unwittingly created Kilol. By printing
on Maheshwari saris in a way no-one had, Kilol
developed a unique signature style of combining
hand-woven borders with hand block printed
designs.
The impact of this fusion survives even today and thanks to this initiative, the hand block printed sari has a greater market than its original version.
Since then the company has moved from strength to strength. Today, the presence of Kilol spreads through12 retail outlets across the country. There is a wholesale department servicing individual outlets and an export department shipping Kilol worldwide.
